We use a part of the building which belongs to the Museum of Moscow.

• How did your cinema first begin?

The founder of DFC, Sofya Kapkova, is a producer and journalist. She used to make regular screenings of documentaries with public-talks during couple of years before she decided to open a cinema with a repertoire based on documentaries.

• Did you have an existing audience or membership base before opening your cinema?

So the audience that used to attend Sofya’s screenings, were ready to watch documentaries at the cinema.

• What percentage of your gross revenues come from the following sources (box office/ third party rentals/ concessions/ memberships/ merchandise/ other)?

Most of our gross revenues come from box office and special events.  

​

• What percentage of your expenses are dedicated to the following areas (full-time staff/ part-time staff/ distributor fees/ concession costs/ rent or annual building costs/ marketing)?

Mainly its full-time staff and costs for the rights.
